On Saturday 19 September 2026, Les Petits Tournesols’ Itzig nursery opened its doors especially for families to enjoy a circus-themed Summer Party.
Sunshine, decorations made with the children and games for all ages set the scene. Above all, it was an opportunity for families and staff to spend time together beyond the usual nursery routine.
The party began long before Saturday
In the days leading up to the event, the educators introduced the world of the circus through pictures and craft activities. The children helped make decorations for the garden and the tables. When the big day arrived, their creations were part of the colourful setting.
There was plenty of teamwork behind the scenes too: planning the stalls and games, setting up the different areas and getting everything ready to welcome families.
Welcome to our little circus
Music greeted everyone on arrival. The team had dressed up or put on make-up for the occasion, and every child received a clown nose. An envelope held the tickets for sausages, the lucky dip and the competition.
Around the garden, children could enjoy a bouncy castle, face painting, a tin-can knockdown game, a lucky dip, duck fishing and making clown ties or bow ties. The activities were designed so everyone could take part. Adults had their own challenge: guess how many sweets were in a jar for a chance to win a gift hamper.
Something tasty between games
The drinks bar and food tables gave everyone a place to gather. On offer were sausages in bread, a salad bar, crêpes, muffins, waffles and fruit skewers. A rented popcorn machine added to the festive atmosphere. The sunny weather made it all the more pleasant to chat while children moved between activities.
A chance to meet outside the everyday routine
On a typical nursery day, conversations with parents often happen at drop-off or collection, alongside practical updates. This Saturday gave everyone more time: to speak with educators, get to know other families and catch up with children who were moving on to school.
